Nine Dragon Mountain National Forest Park (九龙山国家森林公园) is about a half hour drive from Jixian (northern Tianjin). We stayed at a quaint but basic guest house for two nights. The whole trip (food, transportation and everything) cost about $70. All we did was eat, sleep, and hike/walk. We didn’t want to leave.

It was too bright to get great scenery shots, and the photos don’t do the place justice. After spending all summer in the city, we definitely appreciated the fresh air, clear skies, mountains, and trees. Most of these photos are of the bugs we found along the trail; it’s fun to play with the macro setting. (Warning: some of the praying mantis shots are super gross!)
