wow.. that not-the-ice-cream-man music is alot prettier than our actual ice cream truck!.. the kids enjoyed this section :)
Oh yeah, but now imagine it several times a day, in every neighbourhood, sometimes more than one going at once, until 9:30pm. Or, circling the park on nice afternoons while you do your homework. You learn to tune it out, but we thought some kind of rally was going on our first night in Taiwan because the garbage truck started going at the same time a loud-speaker-advertising truck was parked outside. We went looking out all the windows trying to see if there was sme sort of demonstration (that garbage truck played a different song… they sometimes have different tunes for different neighbourhoods).
Plus, for the first few weeks it could be a bit of a let down: “Hey, an ice cream tru- oh, right.” Our kids thought that was hilarious. When they hear it in class they say, “Teacher! The ice cream is coming!”
I pity those drivers.
