thanks. ideally, we'll find a decent alternative first, and then offer them 100 or 200 more a month. I guess it depends on what all the other places are going for. But we've only got until Oct. 15th.

What Grandpa Liu said may well be true. If the landlord have other place to live in, there's really no reason for her to move back. My landlord told me similar thing about moving back and we moving out, but my contract expires in December. So I'm waiting to see whether this is only a strategy or he really wants to be back. Anyway, good luck in your negotiation.

I don't so much blame the landlords this time; it's true that housing prices are continuing to climb in Tianjin.

just curious how old is your landlord?

My landlord is a pretty young guy, I would guess below 30 years old, pretty nice guy him and his wife are, he only knows how to say OK and BYE, but still helped me setup my internet, and stuff.

This is not the first time I heard such disputes, there was an article here (http://www.pekingduck.org/2008/03/evil-beijing-landlords/)
about similar things.

frankly, I really like my apt, and would do everything I can to secure it for myself.

And you say you came from a Library, can you give some directions, you don't really have to go into details anymore, I know how to use google maps now ;=)
